Enterprise Partnership Opportunities
- Expressions of interest from bookkeeper/managers:
-
On our clients behalf we are now looking for people with skills and experience in book keeping and the financial management of small business. Preferably someone who actually enjoys doing this for others. The desired person/s must have a passion and interest in empowering Indigenous people. We have a variety of positions emerging in this area.
The role would include maintaining the books, communication with Yolŋu business owners (english second language speakers), paying expenses and wages in accordance with a budget developed with owners, managing BAS and tax burdens. In this position you would be paid by the hour, rate negotiable.
Not everyone has the interest and skills to work with the books and manage finances, this is especially true for Yolŋu. By this role being filled by experienced Balanda, this frees Indigenous entrepreneurs to spend their time using the skills and talents that they have in other areas. In most cases these positions will be paid per hour and working long distance from home or office. You will be trained and supported to enable you to work more effectively in this cross cultural setting and to ensure the Indigenous client remains in control of their enterprise and empowered in the management of their finances, with you as a part of their team.
- Community Based Financial Support Consultant

Seeking a full-time person to start within 3-12 months with a calling to empower Indigenous people to support small businesses in an Aboriginal community in Arnhem Land, NT, Australia. The preferred applicant will have experience in business and/or accounting and skills in financial management. No prior experience with Indigenous people is necessary, but should have an aptitude for teaching others. Practical training in education, cross-cultural, & language skills will be provided, along with ongoing support.
We are looking for expressions of interest from anyone who might consider a commitment to bookkeeping, financial management and training of local Yol?u bookkeepers in Galiwin'ku NT. You would be becoming part of a team here to empower and up-skill Yolŋu.
Job Description: Our aim is to have a position to support Yolŋu businesses with their financial records and management. As part of this process we would like to begin to skill Yol?u (those who have the talents and passions for it) to take on finance related roles. We envisage that, using the cross-cultural communication and education methodologies of Why Warriors, the successful applicant would support Yolngu owned businesses by providing financial management services and advice. They would also provide, instruction and apprenticing for a few Yolŋu individuals to learn bookkeeping and financial management skills.
Location: Galiwin'ku NT. However, we would also consider applicants who could base themselves in Darwin or Nhulunbuy, who would then fly to communities. Initial placement in Darwin or Nhulunbuy may be essential while accommodation on communities is organised.
If you would like to be part of this exciting opportunity to enable Indigenous enterprises to succeed and have skills or interest in the area of bookkeeping/financial management, please let us know and we can discuss the different possibilities.
